19 MONTHS

This picture was a minor miracle. Ingrid has never been one of those babies that will just sleep anywhere. But one day a couple of weeks ago, she fell asleep in the stroller on our daily walk, and when we got back to the house, she didn't even wake up! For 20 more minutes, she just lay there like a little angel, fast asleep. Luckily, I realized this moment might never come again. I sat next to her and watched.

At 19 months, she is a complete joy. Lately she's been into:

+ Eating lots of yogurt, fruit, bread, cheese, and not much else. The little twerp.

+ Running. She yells "Wun!" and then takes off, arms purposely flung out behind her, hands cocked at a funny angle as if she thinks she's a gymnast making a landing. She often watches her feet while she runs, slowing herself down considerable.

+ Bubbles!

+ Counting: "One, two, hee!"

+ Trying to write on the fogged up glass in the shower. She draws a downward line with her finger and says "I", then makes a bunch of random marks and declares "Ina!" (her way of saying her name)

+ Her 6 mo. old cousin Christina, who moved here last month. Ingrid is obsessed with anything "Baby" is doing.

+ Ring Around the Rosies. She sings "Ashes, Ashes" at the top of her lungs over and over again. Once in a while, she'll say "Ahfah down!" and then carefully lie down on the floor.

19 months on June 16th, 2012.
