Granny's Quilt for Ingrid
note ///// I wrote this post for my other blog, but thought that I would like it documented here, too. If you already saw it, sorry about that! Just skip ahead to the next post... And as a warning, I might be doing this from time to time...
I've been pretty lazy when it comes to taking photos of Ingrid's handmade gifts. It's just that I've been spending most of my photographing energy on capturing the little lady herself! But I've decided I need to make amends. Friends and family have been kind enough to make her some lovely things, and they deserve to be shown off!
As soon as she found out I was pregnant, my granny offered to sew our baby a quilt. She told me to pick out a pattern and some fabric. It didn't take me long to decide on a tumbling block design. I love how it's very traditional but seems modern at the same time. We took a trip over to the local quilt shop, and came back with these sweet little repro patterned fabrics.
I love how it turned out! Can you believe that my granny sewed each and every one of those diamonds together by hand?! And she came up with that lovely triangle border as a surprise. It adds the perfect finishing touch, don't you think? Another great thing about this quilt is that it's quite big. Right now, I have it hanging from the crib as a decoration, and when Ingrid plays on the floor, I spread it out underneath her. Later on, when she transitions out of her crib, it'll make such a pretty covering for her bed. And when my little girl is grown, she'll love having something that her great-grandmother made especially for her.
I hope you don't mind me sharing more of Ingrid's handmade gifts with you... stay tuned for another beautiful quilt!
