9 months

Here are some of the things that our little girl has started doing in the last month or so:

+ Crawling.
+ Pulling herself to a standing position.
+ Picking up little pieces of food and feeding herself.
+ Eating anything and everything ( that won't choke her or cause her harm...) She prefers food with a lot of flavor... like salsa, pastrami, and marinated mushrooms.
+ Sleeping through the night.
+ "Dancing" by swaying side to side. Sometimes her head. Sometimes her whole body.
+ Watching Yo Gabba Gabba with her daddy.
+ Getting good at imitating sounds and words. Has said "eat", "up", "duck", "milk", "hi", "yeah", and has been saying "mama" and "dad" for a while...
+ Signing for "milk", "eat", and "more".
+ Getting her top two front teeth. (She's had the bottom two for about 5 months already.)

The Hot List

Dress courtesy of Grandma & Grandpa Jorgensen

Ingrid, like most babies, is always becoming interested in new tricks, toys, sounds, etc... But she's a fickle one. What's "hot" in her book one week, by the next week could very well be "not".

Since this is my version of a baby journal, I think I'll try and keep track of things like that here. (Like most of this blog, this is probably only interesting to Ingrid's parents & grandparents... and maybe a few aunts & uncles. Ha ha.) Here it goes...

///// The Hot List /////

+ growling & grunting (Sometimes it sounds like she's in pain or going poo. She's not.)

+ putting one hand behind her thigh to help her legs up high into the air, then grabbing her feet with the other hand

+ trying to roll from her back to her tummy

+ "swimming" in the bathtub

+ trying to grab the electrical outlet while getting a diaper change

+ having crazy blowout diapers

+ bouncing around like crazy when you hold her

+ sitting up, in a wobbly way

p.s. That's Ingrid with her aunt Lisa hamming for the camera. They're both good at that. :)

Ingrid Sits Up

About a week ago, Ingrid decided she could sit unassisted.  We're still only trusting her to soft surfaces, but she's managed to stay upright for 2-3 minutes in a row. Somehow it makes her look so different!

Busy Hands

Since she was born, Ingrid has had busy little hands. She loves to clasp them together, even when sleeping. Lately, she's been getting really good at grabbing things.

She's Strong

Ingrid loves standing. If you try to make her sit, a lot of times she'll lock her knees and push with her feet in an effort to stand instead. She's actually been able to hold her own weight up for quite a while... she just doesn't have the balancing thing down.

We think she's going to take after her cousin Lucy and be a little ball of energy. When we brought her home from the hospital, she could already hold up her head a little. She started rolling over by around 7 weeks, I think. And she's hardly ever still. She's constantly rubbing her feet back and forth against each other, or kicking against something, or waving her arms up and down, or moving her head from side to side.

I began walking at 7 months, so I think I may have been cursed (ha ha) with a baby who'll do the same. I keep telling her it'd be just fine with me if she waited until a year or more to walk. I'm just sayin'.

Look at what I can do!

These days, she practices raising her legs as high as possible at every chance she can get.

The Squirm

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Jorgensen for the "Amelia" hats. And I forgot who gave her the butterfly onesie, but she sure looks cute in it. So thanks!
